MCP server

OKForest’s MCP server gives AI assistants read access to your trees, so they answer from your organization’s knowledge and say how far to trust it. It speaks the stateless 2026-07-28 revision of the Model Context Protocol.

You ask your AI assistant, which calls OKForest's MCP tools. OKForest answers from a tree it parses per commit, read from your Git repository through a read-only GitHub App.
  • Your content stays in your repository. OKForest reads it through a GitHub App that you install on the tree repositories you choose, with read-only access. People need no GitHub account to use it.
  • You sign in the first time your assistant connects. OKForest only accepts tokens issued for it, for people who have been given access.
  • Answers carry their provenance. Every result names the repository and commit it came from, and each concept’s status and trust tier, so the assistant can tell you when an answer relies on a draft or unverified concept.
Tool What it returns
search Concepts matching every keyword, ranked (title matches count most), filterable by type, tag, status, and trust tier.
get_concept A concept’s body and frontmatter, with its sources, generation and verification history, trust tier, status, staleness, links, and backlinks.
browse A directory’s index.md, its subdirectories, and its concepts.
related The concepts a concept links to, the concepts that link to it, and the external URLs it cites.
freshness_report Concepts that need attention: stale, draft, unverified, and deprecated.
metadata_inventory The types, tags, and frontmatter keys in use, with counts and likely near-duplicates.

All tools are read-only. Proposing changes, which become pull requests for a Steward to approve, is coming next.
